Design Team Spotlight tutorial - Faux stitched mixed media tag

Hi everyone, Christina here with a tutorial on how to create a
'faux stitching' mixed media tag.

Choose your favourite pattern paper, using a 1" square punch, punch out various pieces of the paper to fit an number 8 tag and adhere. Take a paper piercing tool and poke holes through the edges of the squares. Draw random squiggly lines in black and white markers to give the illusion of thread. To give the background more dimension, apply a Tim Holtz distress crayon in Old paper around the squares and rub with your fingers to smudge it.(Hint) use a baby or alcohol wipe to remove some excess crayon for a more subtle look.

To create the layered snowflake, I used the Tim Holtz Sizzix Bigz die layered snowflake with the embossing folder, Ranger foil sheets and ran them both through the Vagabond. Next, I coloured the snowflake with alcohol inks in Latte and Blue and added a Tim Holtz idea-ology word token 'frosty' in the centre. Using a distress crayon in Picket fence, rub it into the word token.

For an added touch, I coloured Tim Holtz crinkle ribbon in distress oxides - Iced spruce and Broken china, with a spritz of water, then heat set them. Next attach Tim Holtz clasp and bell to the ribbon.

I hope that you have enjoyed my tutorial. Feeling the Summer heat.... sit back, relax and 'stay frosty'!

Thanks so much for stopping by,

((hugs)) Christina

A fond farewell to Freddie.

Hello everyone, today we say a fond farewell to our Crafts Dreamy DT member Frederique, who has stepped down from the team. She has given us some amazing designs and I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work with her, not only is she super talented, but has now also become a dear friend.

With a heavy heart I have decided not to prolong my commitment to the Crafts Dreamy DT. I mainly craft when the weather is cooler, as in Spring and Summer I have a lot to do in and around my garden. So I made the decision to step down and make way for an amazing fellow crafter. I have really enjoyed creating for this fantastic and inspirational team.

Big thanks go out to Frederique for being a valued member of our DT and for being the first lady to join me on my crafting adventure way back in January.

Thank you for all of your support, we will truly miss you.

Hugs from the Crafts Dreamy team! xx

Design Team spotlight tutorial - Vintage index card

Hello everyone, Zowie here with a quick and easy altered Index card tutorial.. vintage style!
I've seen so many wonderful altered Index cards on the internet and wanted to make some; they are highly addictive and perfect for a quick and fun project, especially if you are having creative block!

Here I have used a plain index card and adhered a book page and vintage map design paper, which has been torn at the edges.

Next, I chose these elements to compliment the paper that I used, including this wonderful vintage photo.

I have used a Tim Holtz star rubber stamp along with Tiramisu Archival ink.
Vintage photo distress ink has been used on all edges of the card and elements.

Finally, I chose some book text and adhered it to the card along with a fussy cut butterfly.

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial,
happy crafting!
